A relative of mine talked about how he visited a Cafe in Caabudwaaq and they were casually talking about how many HG they killed. Some Wagardhac guy stood up and said he personally with his own hand killed like 11. This Jileec qurbo relative was shocked.


The casualty count is so low I’d call this more like a gang conflict versus all out war. No all out war lasts for hundreds of years before one side is exterminated.

My grand-uncle (who died, AUN, he was Wagardhac btw, grandma's brother) told me in 2014, "Gelinsoor" will become the 'Bermuda Triangle."

When I asked him what he meant by that, he told me "Before, HG were all running west to Marehan and Marehan has been complaining about encroachment. Now MX has decided to stop complaining and HG will stop running west. In the next generation no one will be running towards each other and there is going to be a "Bermuuda" between them."

The actions that have cropped up the past 6 months tells me, we have entered the 3rd stage where no one will be running towards each other and even the HG who were running west previously, though they have certainly stopped as he predicte, will be running as fast as possible east away from the faultline.

I regret now what is actually in store over the next decade.

It will be gruesome between these two neighbors.

Awoogey, who stands in relation to me, as your great uncle is to you, and incidentally happens to be, subclan wise, extracted of the exact same stock, came to live with us in xamar back in the early-mid Eighties. I was at the time a young lad, perhaps, no more than 13 or 14 years of age, and my grand uncle was approaching eighty, physically infirm and confined to bed at the time.

My great uncle used to relate to us a lot of baadiye stories, it being his lot ( as was the case with most of grandfather/mothers) to be born and raised in the very same volatile region, specifically, baadiyaha nawaaxiga dhabad and galinsoor. My maternal grandma, my owoowe's younger sister, my Allah have mercy on their souls both, had, in fact, for a considerable part of her later life, lived in Galinsoor town itself where she owned a number of properties some of which still stand to this day. Eventually, she too, had to leave and moved to xamar to live with us.

As I said, awoowe, used to entertain us, often telling us, in great detail, first hand accounts of events nolosha baadiye ku saabsan. Not surprisingly, sheekoyinka invariably revolved around dagaalo qabiil/aano, ( many of which he personally took part in himself) iyo xoolo/livestock, mainly geel, oo badankooda ama la kala dhacey through periodical tribal clashes ama sometimes si caadi ah loo soo boobey. Owoowe owned hundreds heads of geel, and untold number of ari, though he never seemed to esteem the latter nearly half as much he did the former. He was immoderately fond of his geel to the point that he knew by heart pretty much all their names and always spoke of them with the utmost filial affection, as though he was reminiscing not about beasts of burden but about one of his own children.

One thing i found the most peculiar concerning awoowe, and I still now often marvel at, is that, though, he was born in what is arguably one of the most unforgiving, harshest corner of the known world, I have never to this day met a soul tenderer of heart, nor one kinder or gentler in disposition than my beloved great uncle. Ilaahey naxariistii janno ha ka waraabiyo awoowe ehelada iyo muslimka dhamaan, amin.
