What a Glorious Dawn
Gushing forth in Light
This Day is Crowned!
I have never seen this before. The role is one of those perfunctory roles existing among Somalis almost as a residual throwback to previous yesteryear's post-colonial nation building exercises; Chairman of Youth/Youth Leader, local Head of Women's Organizations---"Ururka Dhalinyarada/Haweenka. They are sort of like a 3rd level of designated roles after national and regional that is not entirely government but is not exactly not government. It has government-governed partnership where the role has government accreditation but it represents society often to government.
So anyways this perfunctory role is always some local bureaucratic naming by the local district authority and its noteworthiness doesn't pass few public responses at the moment of appointment.
For an example of this, the local Youth Leader of Caabudwaaq district from the same community as Garbahaarey recently saw the usual process implicated where they were named by the district authorities followed by the rest of whatever follows.
But now, in Garbahaarey, we see the entire district's rising generation coming out and lining up to VOTE for their district "Youth Leader" in the "FIRST" occurence of this development that I have ever seen!
Puntland! The local council elections! This is proof without a shadow of a doubt there is an implication forming that something truly transformational jas taken place from what was clearly a watershed moment!
These young voting for their "Youth Leader" are going to want to vote for their "Mayor" next; their "Governor" and then their "President." You can't put the genie back in the bottle when you have tasted FREEDOM, LIBERATION, POWER! You think 'political power' is the single most powerful force on earth? No! Individual power, self-agency is the greatest power on earth!
