BE HONEST
As an "educated & open-minded" individual, have you ever took the time to read the Quran cover to cover?
If you can't do that, even if for a purely academic sake, then you need to ask yourself what's holding you back.
Could it be the............(gasp) SHAYDAAN?
Could he be causing you to procrastinate and put it off indefinitely?

Does matter his nationality? I have Arab Atheists who got 100% Islamic education and Arabic is their first language. Of course read the quran not only once but more than any of you ever read. but they chose to not belief as you chose to belief.

No, that wasn't me. Just explaning to you how it is. You having hard time that could be Somali and Atheist while I see many many Arab Muslim born and never have seen any Western country and chose to be Atheists.

This is the way I look at it: Rebel is Arab and you and Cool-man are not. A while ago an Arab guy came to your camelarsed place and told you about a God living in teh sky called allah reachable through a flying donkey called Buraq. You accepted that story hook line and bleedin sinker no questions asked.
Now if another arab guy ie Rebel is telling you... wellll, you know, we are not reeeeally 100% sure that story was accurate - I see no reason why you shouldnt accept this too. I mean what is your problem?
Also remember Arabs and allah are tight - god speaks Arabic, Arabic is teh lingua franca in heaven..be careful not to offend god's buddies i say...
