Gulf war vet shoots four !!!!!!!

..............“The smallest thing would set him off. He just felt he had been used and abused.”

A CRAZED Gulf War veteran became a silent assassin to execute four relatives.

David Bradley, 40, used a handgun with a silencer to avoid alerting his next victim.

He crept up behind each in turn at their home, blasting them in the back of the head at close range.

The ex-soldier then spent the night with the bodies before confessing to cops

The victims were BradleyÂ’s uncle and aunt, Peter and Josephine Purcell, both 70, and their sons Keith, 44, and Glen, 42.

Bradley suffered from Gulf War syndrome.

He served in Iraq during the first Gulf War and his unit, the 3rd Battalion Royal Fusiliers, suffered an appalling friendly fire loss.

Last night victim Josephine’s brother Joe, 51, said: “My sister and her husband were perfect parents. If this was caused by the stress of war then it is awful.

“Soldiers go through terrible things and they need to be looked after.” Bradley lived with his four victims in Benwell Grove, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Two were slaughtered in the living room, the others in the kitchen. There was no sign of a struggle, suggesting Bradley moved stealthily from one to the next without anyone realising.

Nightmare ... Bradley was haunted by Gulf War

After staying with the bodies for up to 12 HOURS, he went to his local police station at about 6.15am yesterday. Bradley walked in with a bag containing a gun with a silencer, a pump action shotgun, a home-made nail bomb and ammunition.

He put his house keys on the desk, and calmly said to the desk officer: “You may need these. I’ve just killed four people.”

Officers arrested him and a controlled explosion was carried out at the station. Families living in and around Benwell Grove were then cleared from the area as cops searched for more weapons or bombs.

Bradley left the Army shortly after the Gulf War in 1991.

Six of his colleagues were killed when American jets mistook their convoy for Iraqi tanks. Bradley would have known the massacred troops — and it is likely he witnessed the carnage.

In recent years, he sought help from the Newcastle branch of the Gulf War Veterans Association. Chairman Larry Cammock said: “David suffered from mood swings.

“He was very volatile and felt as though no one was helping him. He hit the bottle heavily after Iraq and was involved in a series of violent incidents.

“His life descended into chaos. He had trouble sleeping and was continually suffering from nightmares.

“The smallest thing would set him off. He just felt he had been used and abused.”

Neighbours described him as a loner who rarely went out. A family friend, David Horsfall, 50, said: “He stayed in his room for hours on end.”

Assistant Chief Constable Kevin Mathieson, of Northumbria Police, said last night: “No one else is being sought in connection with this incident.”

Charles Plumridge, of the National Gulf War Veterans Association, said: “Although this is a terrible thing to happen, surely the Government must realise these soldiers are ill.”
