I'm familair with the Mearsheimer and Walt report. It caused quite a stir on publication with right wing ardent Zionists screaming "anti-Semitic!".
But the overall premise of the two professors that American foreign policy toward the Middle East is dictated by the Israel Lobby, a "loose coalition" of politicians, think-tanks, and Jewish leaders at the advantage of Israel and disadvantage of US national interests is flawed.
The Israel lobby may exert influence on the Israel - Palestine question, but not so in regards to other issues of the region. The US is willing to oblige Israel when its interests coincide, but If anything, it's Israel that does America's bidding. Israel is America's watchdog in the Middle East.
(see article below by Jewish professor, Norman Finkelstein)

You should stop posting threads after threads exposing the Nazi-Zionist Jews heinous crimes and conspiracies around the world, if you don't wanna MAD MAC to get heartattack. This US/Mexican boarder guard is going crazy everytime someone mentions Nazi-Zionist crimes and their grip on American balls.

"The Israel lobby may exert influence on the Israel - Palestine question, but not so in regards to other issues of the region."
Lets face it, all other issues of the region pale in comparison. The Israel - Palestine situation is THE most signifigant and inflammatory issue IN the Middle - East, with the Jew oppression and dispossession of Palestinian Muslims being the most symbolic of the whole War on Islam. Therefore it warrants the most attention. Which, in my opinion, renders the report quite credible.
"but If anything, it's Israel that does America's bidding. Israel is America's watchdog in the Middle East."
I disagree. All one has to do is look at the look of absolute fear on Bush's face when the situation calls for American condemnation of Israeli attrocities. He's terrified. But you are correct in that they ARE a watchdog. And like any unleashed Pit Bull when it tastes blood, the only way to stop it is to shoot it.

I posted this because I know he likes to post inflammatory anti Islamic rhetoric just in order to get a rise. But his intelligence betrays the "hillbilly mentality" he wears here. I KNOW he sees the truth in this report.

Here's a real interesting read about the recent history of Zionism.
A Jewish businessman warns about the evils of Zionism and their instigation of World War II.
VERY eye-opening.

I strongly doubt that. The recent upsurge of violence in Gaza may be the dominat news on our tv screeens for now, but Washington is more worried about the future of Iraq. They have a disatarous situation where the Iraqi government is seeking closer ties with Tehran- Washington's chief opponent in the region, and a country which could possibly be developing nuclear weaponry, and they're at a loss.
Should they attack Iran, they'll face retribution from the Shia in Iraq whose leaders such as Ayatollah Ali Sistani and Mutada Al-Sader have close ties with Iran, with Muqtada even saying that his militia would not stand for a US attack against his country's neighbour.

It's not a war against Islam. Were that the case, why doesn't Washington attack Saudi Arabia- the motherland of Salafi Islam, and the country from which the 19 terrorist hijackers hailed from? Rather it's a war for profits and oil. That Muslims live in Iraq is entirely circumstantial. I don't think the US would've invaded Iraq if its chief export were cabbages and sprouts. Were it the case that Hindus inhabited Iraq, or Christians The US would've still Invaded.
Another thing Mearshmier and Walt do not say that America's conducting a war against Islam. The problem with muslims is they'll give credence to anything which says the US is fighting a war against Islam whether or not the evidence to support that view stacks up.

Don't be so ridiculously naive. Since when was it possible to figure out a complicated and long-time imperialist agenda just by looking at a man's face? Mearshmiers and walt's scholarly report was based on evidence upon evidence of official records, files and interviews, yet your schoarly analysis is deducted from just by looking at someone's face? Get serious
Mearshiemer and Walt's report was a well-intentioned report by two distingushed men of academia, but their conclusions are disputed- not by Zionists or their cheer leading sympathisers, but expert intellectuals on the Middle East and highly esteemed intellectuals such as Chomsky and Finkelstein (whom by the way are anti-Israel). Did you even read the article I gave?
