Post by Somaliman% »

i feel really sad for these somali people suffering in south africa they are being killed like sheep....?
the thing that really felt sad is what this woman said:
shes said no rights no country no flag ....
and we'r proud to be somali for what?

"I have five children and I have got nothing for them now," said Hajie. "I have no country, I have no flag, I have no rights. What can I do now?" The family believe that Sheekow was killed by a rival shop owner in Delft. "We live with the people who kill us. We see them every day," said Ilias Hajie, Sheekow's brother-in-law. He said he, too, had been attacked and beaten many times at his shop in Lwandle"

heres the story and her picture

Somali arrested for 'murder conspiracy'

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Cape Argus

In the latest twist in the violence plaguing Cape Town's close-knit Somali community, a Somali man has been arrested after allegedly conspiring to have a fellow countryman murdered.

The 20-year-old suspect will appear in the Athlone magistrate's court on Tuesday in connection with the alleged plot. The murder was never carried out.

Police spokesperson Novela Patelwa said the Somalian man had been arrested by Nyanga police on Monday. She said a second suspect, a South African man, had also been taken in for questioning.

"We are also investigating whether this case could provide clues to some of the unsolved Somali murders," said Patelwa.

In the latest attack on Somalis in the city, Delft South shop owner Yusuf Bahar Abdullahi Sheekow, 40, was shot and killed in his shop on Monday night. A second Somalian was shot and seriously wounded.

Sheekow was buried on Tuesday after a ceremony at a Strand mosque. Sheekow leaves his wife, Safieh Hajie. The couple have five children in Somalia. Hajie, 34, burst into tears when asked about her husband's death after the funeral on Tuesday."I got a phone call saying he was dead," she said. "I was so sad. This is very difficult for me. I'm very afraid. I wish I could go back home. "I don't think there is life for me here anymore."

Sheekow was the 11th Somali killed in the Western Cape in recent months. His death is the latest in a spate of attacks on Somali business people. Somali traders were also driven out of Masiphumelele, near Noordhoek, last month.

Provincial police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros said robbery and business rivalry between local and Somali shopkeepers were behind the killings. Speaking at a meeting between representatives of the Somali community and police, government officials and representatives of the Cape Town Refugee Centre and the Human Rights Commission in Cape Town this month, Petros said at least 66 attacks on Somalis had been reported and most had been armed robberies.

Police are still looking for the three robbers who murdered Sheekow and stole a large sum of money.A friend said Sheekow had just pulled into the driveway when he was attacked.

The colleague, who was shot and wounded in the attack, was opening the garage door when the assailants opened fire. Two men had apparently been hiding in an alley next to the garage, and a third emerged from behind the building. The friend said there had been at least two previous attacks on Sheekow's shop.
"This time, they just shot him. They went into the shop and threatened the small boy who was there," said the friend. "He showed them where the money was. It was a lot of money because they were going to buy more stock the next day." The shop was ransacked after the attack.

According to Hajie and other members of the family, the shop landlord later demanded R3 000 in outstanding rent. The shop is now closed as most of the stock was stolen after the robbery.

He said he, too, had been attacked and beaten many times at his shop in Lwandle
