"Sunnis and Shias agree on the core fundamentals of Islam - the Five Pillars - and recognize each others as Muslims. In 1959 Sheikh Mahmood Shaltoot, Head of the School of Theology at Al Azhar university in Cairo, the most august seat of learning of Sunni Islam and the oldest university in the world, issued a fatwa (ruling) recognizing the legitimacy of the Jafari School of Law to which most Shias belong. As a point of interest, the Jafari School is named after its founder Imam Jafaf Sidiq who was a direct descendent through two different lines of the Sunni Caliph Abu Bakr."

They donÂ’t worship graves and I think there are a lot of misunderstandings and confusion about the Shias. I know many Somalis used to go for siaro to the graves of dead wadaado like sh. C/Qaadir actually some still do....and they call themselves sunni.
Imagine if people stereotyped all sunnis as grave worshipers? Istaaqfurullah...

You must be Hawiye
Cant you see they are sujuuding to the Grave and crying beating themselves saying why did u die..
Shia view
Main article: Shi'a view of Abu Bakr
Shi'as believe that Abu Bakr, far from being a devout Muslim and wise and humble man, was a schemer who seized the Islamic state for himself, displacing the proper heir, Ali. They believe that Abu Bakr and Umar persecuted Ali, his family, and his followers, and in so doing, caused the death of Ali's wife and Muhammad's daughter, Fatima Zahra, and her unborn child, Al Muhsin.
So now do u understand?

Enemy, I know about ShiÂ’a, IÂ’m just saying calling a muslim kafir is not wise and that any muslim can commit shirk no matter what sect he or she may belong to.
Siaaro is something practiced by many people in Southern Somalia not just the hawiye, I’m not sure if they practice it in Djibouti and Somaliland but the people of the south in all their clans used to practice siaaro..... In the past few months the UIC was trying to educate the people that siaaro was somewhat shirk but some of them didn’t want to hear none of it. At the end they were told to limit the damage they cause each other in the ‘istum’, the siaaro was left up to them to decide.

I think you guys take a far too wide view of what constitutes Shirk. Visiting a grave while praying is not the equivelent of praying for the grave itself. The grave just provides geographic closeness with the earthly remains of the buried. It may not be permitted, but defining it as shirk is a huge reach. It would be one thing if the person at the grave was praying directly to the grave itself, or beseeching the dead person to fullfill a wish. It is another when you just go there to commune with youreself and the person in question. You're really talking to yourself. Allah is not some sort of vengeful c0cksocker waiting to fock over every old woman who prays at her husbands grave.

That's true for some people, and not true for others. But even so, is that really shirk? Are you putting others BEFORE God in that case? Asking someone to intercede for you with God clearly indicates God's mastery.
Like I said, is God a pedantic a$$hole who is going to get in a twist and condemn people to hellfire for chickshit? I think not.

the problem is that if the practice continues.
a hundred, or few hundred years later.
that saint may become diefied, and become gods.
Those tombs temples, with thier priesthood.
Its something humans are addcited to.
its happened already in cycles.
The Babylonian god Marduk was a living person, a tribal hero or saintly figure.
same deal with the pre-islamic arabian God Hubal.

Well, when people start deifying these people, then you can worry about it. I would worry first and foremost about the deification of Mohammed. He has taken on mythic status in the Muslim world to the point where he can't even be criticized. He is revered as if he were God himself. Some say he never even committed sin. As if he were not human.
