to own a dog? i've had a maltese/pomerian mix and she's almost 6. i had a long talk with my mom and she's telling me to take it somewhere for it to be ''put to sleep.''

Good quistion I dont think its haram as long as you dont touch it when the dog is ''wet'' if you do touch a wet dog you have to take shower 7 times.

Here in the UK loads of somali youth own a dog my somali mate who owns a pitbull but the pitbull sleeps at the his backyard in a small self made house he let his dog out in the park the other day and 3 somali girls saw him with the dog they where shocked and scared like what the fukk is a somali doing with a dog horta why are somali ppl scared of DOGS?

that's one question i'd like to know. somalis are very scared of dogs. it's a fear known throughout our country, no matter what tribe you are.

hopefully, someone'll come with an answer to my question. maybe show a passage from the quran or something. anyways, thanks for answering.

Mike, i was just talking to my mom. she's really forcing me to do so. i hate when she thinks she can tell me what to do. i'm almost 20 for christ's sake!! i just don't understand why she is so adamant about me killing a poor, helpless animal i rescued from the humane society. it wouldn't make any sense to do so, because thats what cindy (my dog) 's fate was before i took her in. ugh!!!!!

it's because i told my grandma esther on her, and she forced her to let me keep it. she's just being plain irrational now. it's gone to a point where i don't even want to talk to her anymore.

An honest advice... Please get rid of the dog...Waa nijaaso socota... Don't you want to pray? And please do not let it lick you .. Please listen to your mother she wants the best for you... And ofcourse it is Harraam if kept as a pet which licks your mouth etc But I think as hunter or watch dog it is allowed as long as its wet saliva doesn't touch you..... But honestly ask the shiekhs thay are better than me...

i love dogs. My boys got pitbulls and rottweilers and I ain't afraid to pet them or play with them. Somalis for the most part are puss.ies Don't kill the Dog. THAT IS wrong. If your mom hates the dog, then give it to a friend or the humane society.

Killing any of Allah's creations for no reason is definately haram. Islam does not permit killing just because you don't like something. Allah made dogs for a reason. So putting it to sleep just because your mom doesn't like them would definately be a sin.

If you touch a dog when it is wet, Islamically (not scientifically) you have to wash THAT SPOT 7 times, not take 7 showers.
