"The Rashaida are the country's only ethnic Arabs. Mainly pastoralists and traders, the Rashaida migrated to northeast Africa in the late 18th century from the Hejaz. They are Arabic-speaking Muslims, living along the north eastern and central coasts (massawa) and along the Sudan border in tightly-knit clans. Rashaida women are noted for their red-and-black patterned dresses and their long heavy veils, often embroidered with silver, beads and seed pearls. During the Eritrean war for independence, Rashaida men joined the struggle in large numbers in support of their newly found patriotic Eritrean nationlism.


When I asked on why they haven't went back to Saudi Arabia, where their ancestors originated from, they scuffed and stated they are Eritreans and this is their land to protect and watch."

Dude, They dont claim to be African.

They are only in Eritrea and Sudan for less then 70-80 years.

They see themselfs as Saudis.
