BREAKING NEWS : Hawiye clan rejects Ethiopian ceasefire requ

Ahmad Diriye Ali, the spokesman of Hawiye clan, has said commanders of the Ethiopian troops engaged in fighting in Mogadishu have requested a ceasefire and resumption of talks with groups opposing them.

Ahmad Diriye said they would never accept to enter into negotiations with Ethiopian troops. "Whenever fighting escalates, they request a ceasefire, then they break the truce by initiating fighting. No matter what they say, we will never accept to enter into any negotiation with them again," Ahmed Diriye said.

The recent ceasefire agreement between the Ethiopian troops and Somali groups opposing them lasted for 10 days, giving Mogadishu people respite from heavy shelling that has now resumed in the city, as Ethiopian troops broke the truce and are shelling most Mogadishu neighbourhoods.
