Somalia: Gun battle kills three in Afgoi

Mogadishu 30, April.07 ( Sh.M.Network) At least three people were killed and four were wounded when government forces and troops guarding the chairman of Afgoi district clashed Monday.

Shabelle reporter, Hassan Mayow in Afgoi, 30 km south of Mogadishu, said a number government troops led by Abdulakdir Mahdi Yarow and troops loyal to Hassan Ahmed Hassan, the district chief exchanged 15 minutes of gunfire. Reports say the there was discrepancy between the two men’s clans.

The Somali government was not available for comments over the issue.

The incidents comes as the government troops backed by Ethiopian troops defeated remnants of Islamists in the capital and positioned the largest number of soldiers at the streets of the capital.
