There are almost no Somalis who live near the rivers. If you go to those places you will just encounter Congolese Bantus. The most useful land of Somalia is illegally occupied by foreigners.

Get a tongue scraper (like the ora brush) and use it thoroughly in the morning, keeps your mouth fresh all day. Bad breath mainly comes from residue on the tongue.
