DS,
You can post whatever you want....bursting into emotional outcry and childesh name-calling is not rational, intelligent, grown-up discussion in my heck of the wood.
This is the humility I alluded to it, don't remember it when I force you...you should have it all times.

''the important thing is Somaliweyn understands''
I really don't understand where the fuss is about. You took a cheap shot by accusing me of something familiar in your crew, I refutted by providing the topics in which the discussions happened.
It is not my fault that I do not post 1-liners history.
-----
Anyways, lets not derail the topic.
I will finish the coming installments in due time.

Awdal, and S-combo,
How come most Northwestern people have something against resistance struggles against the Imperial powers of the 19th century. For example, Sayyid Muhammed Hassan and his dervish movement is now despised by Northwestern people, while at that time brave Northwestern groups took part.
And now, you even dislike discussing the struggle in Benadir against Italian occupation of Somalia?
-----
Whats up with this inherent anti-resistance and pro-foreign occupation mentality?
You should value the resistance of the Somalis of yesterday, so the ones of today can take inspiration and learn from their experience.

Re: Lafoole 1896: ''Axad Shiiki''
i though sheikh hassan barsane was in charge of the Shabelle valley until the italian killed him in 1924
In October 1923, De Vecchi di Val Cismon became the first fascist Governor of Somalia marking a change in Italian strategy in the Horn of Africa. De Vecchi set out to exterminate all who opposed his government’s desire for total control over what fascist propaganda called ‘La Grande Somalia’. However, the Somalis were heavily armed and led by men who had been given advanced training during the preparation for the First World War. An estimated 16,000 rifles were in Somali hands. The Governor’s first task, therefore, was to order the confiscation of arms and ammunition from the Somalis, particularly from the clans in the inter-riverine region. In March 1924, Sheikh Hassan Barsane, a leader of the Shabelle valley movement known as the Barsane Revolt, convoked a Shir (meeting of elders) where the participants, inflamed with millenarian zeal, denounced the Governor’s order. On behalf of the Shir, Barsane wrote the following to the Governor:
In the name of Allah, most gracious, most merciful ... I have received your letter and understood its contents, but must advise that we cannot obey your orders and join with you in a covenant . . . Your government has its laws, and we have ours. We accept no law other than ours. Our law is the law of Allah and his Prophet . . . We are not like other people, none of us has ever enrolled in the Zaptie (colonial forces), never! ... and if you come to our land to fight against us, we will fight you with all possible means ... The world is very close to its end, only 58 years remain. We don’t want to stay in this world. It is better to die while defending our laws.
After some initial success, the Somali resistance crumbled when Barsane was captured by the Italians on 4 April.

Does anyone know the basis for this quotation? 1924 plus 58 equals 1982.

D-Tolka,
Sheikh hassan barsane was from a different era. Also a brave man, his actions were unfortunately too late too litte.
The era we are discussing in this topic is: 1896 to around 1914.
While Sheikh Xasan Barsame was in the era of Fascist rule: 1923-41.
Angelina,
No thanx, the coming installments will take more time, but I will definetly post them when finished.

Dude when did u ever hear me despise Sayid Muhammed hassan, the man is a legend and am proud to say he was a somali.
For italian resistance how are we gonna resist a nation that never colonized us and we have no realtions with it what so ever. Only two countries that conqured us are the French and English and we have fought both but u must also understand the British were alot stronger than the Italians and the French are known for being ruthless and killing machines.
I dont think i have ever met a samaroon person despise Sayyid Muhammed Hassan.

Re: Lafoole 1896: ''Axad Shiiki''
King,
You should look at the issue as Somali vs European powers.
In the North, Somali groups resisted differenty against British and French. In the South, the struggle against Italians was also waged differently by the different Somali groups.
And I think Italians were more determined in colonizing Somali lands, since Britain and France only needed Somaliland and Djiboutie respectively to safeguard their Indian Ocean-Red Sea link, and for other purposes.
Still, the heaviest, most organized resistance came from the great Sayyid Muhammed Hassan and his dervish army. A heroic struggle.

I understand where ur coming from but u must also understand before 1960 there was no Somalia and we never use to intermingle thus meaning every clan stuck to their regions and there was really no nationalism and also yes Sayid mohammed aun did have the biggest struggle but u would only hear about him but there were many other struggles happening in the north but as a samaroon we were fighting three fronts , French in Djbouti, British in somaliland and Ethopians in Somali Galbeed and so where the Essa. You obvioulsy wouldnt hear much about that history since the south has always had a more influential decree than us thus resulting in ur history being prominent in somalia than ours. Dont underestimate the British they were very ruthless especially against us and as for the French i suggest u really dig up the massacres they committed.
