Being away from Italy for so long and then going back to it, I assure you, all your childhood memories will be shattered. The extent of racism in italy can be quite overwhelming, but its most reserved for those black ppl that live in italy...whenever I am there I speak in english as much as possible, simply because they treat you differently...but not to worry they love tourists, especially gli americani perche hanno $$$ or rather that is the perception. If you are female, do not be shocked if a random stranger walks past you and asks quando costi (how much) regardless of what you're wearing, or if they ask you dove ai fatto il tuo naso (where did you get the nose done) as you'll encounter such questions frequently.

Being in Milan, you don't really get the essence of italy, i mean its the place to be if you are into shopping, in which case i suggest the Duomo, or Corso Buenos Aires...but definately avoid these places on saturday afternoons cuz its crawling with ppl. Also check out chinatown on via Paolo Sarpi.

Oh the best pizza place, the name escapes me, but its opposite the mcdonalds, in the whole of italy and the best gelateria (walk down after exiting the pizza place) are both located on carlo farini....

If you are into culture, architecture or history, then I recommend the vatican city in rome...and if the weather permits, you might as well check out the beach at Ostia, stella polare (outside rome) but its like 20-30mins on the train...but be prepared, in italy you meet two kinds of ppl...the really cool ppl and the sucky sucky ones.

Of course how could I forget my favourite city of all...Venezia, in one word...its BEAUTIFUL...from the people, to its lil markets...and of course you can't go to venice without a gondola ride....ward of warning, if you walk around for a bit and not hop on the first one you see, the prices vary greatly. ok that's my labo taano...

enjoy your trip

During the summer of 2004 i went to Italy to visit an aunt of mine who lived there since the civil war started in Somalia.I had always dreamed of living in Italy, and after this experience i changed my mine about f'ucking italy Twisted Evil .In Italy, I came into contact with so many different cultures and people from all over the world. This whole experience has really made my will to travel and experience different new things that much stronger. One thing that caught my eye was how racist those bastards are wallahi.
