QAMAN BULXAN'S MASTERPIECE
Qaman Bulxan, for those young ones who dont know him, was an Ogaden clan leader and Poet of the first order.
His most famous poem is one of the most thoughtful and most unusual and in many ways most `unsomali' of all Somali Gabays. It was part of the famous Guba Trilogy(the term means "the Burner" because it led to so many clan wars).
The trilogy comes from the three poets that exchanged the initial poems: Cali Dhuux(Dhulbahante); Qaman(Ogaden) and Salan(Habar Jeclo)
It started with Cali Dhuux horribly chiding the Ogadens for allegedly not defending themselves against what he thought was a Habar Yonis assault led by Faacuul Aadan, a famous HY warrior chief.
Cali Dhuux used his great and vicious imagination to incite his fellow Daarood Ogadens to fight back. He used haunting imagery to the Somali macho psyche like "Naagahaan dhankii loo dhigiyo dhinacna diideeynne..dhedigaanshahaa lagu arkiyo dhiigga caadada e" (" it is only women ..who never say no to whichever position they are laid...it is their feminine weakness... and their blood of comonness.."
Thus he was asssociating what he thought was Ogaden lack manliness with women and their periods. This is nasty stuff.
Salan, the HJ poet only poured more fuel onto the fire not only praising the Habr Yonis for humiliating the Ogaden but also reminding Cali Dhuux that his own Dhulbahante are being harried by Habr Jeclo.
The expected Somali Gabay response would have been defiance, denial, threat and grandstanding.
Not from Qaman. This great Poet responded to Cali Dhuux's incitement thus:
"Dabbaad ololisaa kumana gubo daayin abidkaaye.. intaad degelo shidaad taqaan dirodireyn Jaane"
"You Inflame fires of hate... but they never burn you...you add logs on to the fire..you are knowledgeable at the devilishness of incitement.."
Great piece great artist.

Dhankaan ka hadlay waakaa Qamaan dhaafay hadalkiiye
Dhex-xidhka hayska gooyaan lahaa dhuugga loo tolaye
Haddii dhaxal adoogaa la cuno waad dhadhamisaaye
Waxaan cunaha ii dhaafin iyo dhaashin baa jira'e
Naagahaan dhankii loo rogiyo dhinacna diidayne
Dheddigaanshahaa lagu arkiyo dhiigga caadada'e
Haddayan dhiilka caanaha lahayn laguma dhaarteene
Wax ka dhigan gobtii dhawrsataan ceeb ka dhiidhiyine
Dhirfal buu Isaaq marin intuu dhaco Ogaadeene
Karuur dhuumay dhaydana ka jecel oo ay dhamayaane
Dhoobada Hargeysiyo Berbera waa dhito u taalle
Dharka kama macaasheen hadday dhuunta jarayaane
Waa dhego la'yahay Reer Subeer dhoohan weligiise
Dhibta gaadha waa moog yihiin, iyo dhaliishoode
Anuun baa dhalaalinahayee, dhiirran ma hayaane

Intaad dogob shiddaa baad taqaan dirdirayn jaane
Daaskaad fadhido sow gubee degelkan qiiqaabi
Haddayse daacad xaajadu tahoon lagu denbaabaynin
Danbaaburada naareeed haddaan dhinacu doonaynin
Seeddoow maxaad noogu digan dakharku waa kiinne
Goormayse degmadu noo miyeen dawgalbaa jira e

Indeed Qamaam Bulxan was one of the few masters of the Gabay. The choice of words, the paraphrasing of ideas and maahmaah and the overall
composition is just superbly done. Cali Dhuux aka Cali Futosheegsheeg can not be put on the same par as Qamaam Bulxan.
These lines sum Qamaan's gabay up:
Dagaallama rag doorkii la laa duubcaddii Hagare
Ama na daaya waa wada qabnaa daawashiyo ceebe
It just reminds of this fool called Candhoole who shamefully comes here and starts throwing xaar from both ends. One just has to realise this runs in the family. Ceebtood mahe, waa cadadood, ayagoo la karbaashaayo hadana inuu meelahaas ka faano. Duulku ceeb u adagaa.
Darood misa a sub sub sub sub clan of absame?
Perhaps you might start learning few history lessons. Do you know who pucked that subsubsubsub clan of yours? It was none other than a sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub clan of Habaryoonis called reer Caynaanshe. (not even all of Reer Caynaanshe, it was a subclan of reer caynaanshe called reer Sugule) The same men that also phucked the Biciidyahan and made them shyt on their pants (been maha oo walaahi ah, its is a historic event) the place is upto this day known as Daarood Ku Xaar... it borders between Cagdheer, Majeerteen and Dhulbahante... and its a Habaryoonis territory.
