understands Ethiopia's military intervention in Somalia, ADUUNKOO DHAN BAA IDINKA SOO HOR JEEDA ALAHU AKBAR

CAIRO, Egypt: Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak has said he understands Ethiopia's military intervention in Somalia despite calls from the Arab League and others for foreign troops to leave.

Mubarak met on Thursday with Ethiopia's Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik as Somali and Ethiopian soldiers prepared major assault on the last stronghold of Islamic movement militiamen in the Horn of Africa country.

Egyptian presidential spokesman Suleiman Awwad said "Mubarak stressed during the meeting his confidence that Ethiopia respects the sovereignty and independence of Somalia and has no ambitions in Somalia's territory, and it will withdraw its forces soon," according to the state-run Al-Gomhuria newspaper.

Mubarak also expressed "understanding for the reasons behind Ethiopia's intervention in Somalia according to a request from Somalia's legitimate government," Awwad said, according to the newspaper.

Ethiopian forces intervened in Somalia to drive away the Islamist militants from the capital Mogadishu, ending their six months in power.

Al-Qaeda no. 2 accuses Security Council of supporting Ethiopia
Geplaatst op 06-01-2007 12:09 door Ethiopian Times in politiek
Cairo - Ayman al-Zawahri, second-in-command of the al-Qaeda terrorist network, on Friday accused the United Nations Security Council of cooperating with Ethiopia to violate Somalia's territorial integrity.

In a sound recording broadcast on www.alhesbah.org, al-Zawahri said 'the UN Security Council is involved with the Ethiopian crusaders by sending international forces to Somalia and refusing to issue a decree forcing Ethiopia to pull its forces out of Somalia.'

Al-Zawahri called on Muslims across the globe to help their fellow Somali Muslims in all possible ways.

The man regarded as right-hand man of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden pointed out that 'the true battle will start with the Islamic campaigns on the Ethiopian forces.'

He further called on the Islamic Courts in Somalia to recompose itself in what he called the new battlefield, the war waged by the US and its anti-Islam allies against Islam and Muslims.

'The United Nations, which divided Palestine and offered a legitimate cover for the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, has now offered a new service to the crusader alliance led by the US against the Islamic Somalia,' said al-Zawahri.

He encouraged the Somali people not to be afraid of the US.

'Don't be taken by the US power as you have defeated it before thanks to God's help,' he said. 'Today it is weaker than before.' 0 aanbevelingen, beveel dit bericht aan bij andere bezoekersWaarschuw de redactie!

Ethiopia: Meles Zenawi's Delusions of Grandeur
Geplaatst op 06-01-2007 07:06 door Ethiopian Times in politiek
The Tigrayan minority regime in Ethiopia, which waged an unprecedented propaganda campaign exalting its prowess and might as it conducted its illegal war of aggression and invasion against the Union of Islamic Courts militia using various pretexts, including “defending Ethiopia’s sovereignty”, “routing terrorists”, “crushing extremists”, etc. etc. in violation of international law, UN Security Council Resolution 1725, the African Union Charter and boasting of “victory against Islamists”, now wants the “international community” to bail it out of its self made quagmire and finance its illegal occupation of sovereign Somali territories.

Judging from the various the writings of the various “analysts”, “Africa experts” etc. and even the retired US Acting Ambassador to Ethiopia Vicki Huddleston, who have come out of the wood works to vouch for Meles Zenawi, the leader of the genocidal vote rigging regime in Ethiopia and Washington’s “staunch ally in the global war on terror”, looks like he may once again be rewarded for his belligerent actions. US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Jendayi Frazier has flown to be at Meles Zenawi’s side at Menelik Palace as the international Somalia Contact Group huddle in Brussels, scurrying to find an exit strategy for Washington’ quintessential house negro Meles Zenawi.

For those of us who are accustomed...

Ethiopia: People around the world praise Ethiopian gov't, Defence Forces for timely intervention in
Geplaatst op 06-01-2007 00:14 door Ethiopian Times in politiek

Addis Ababa

People around the world are expressing appreciation for the Ethiopian government and the National Defense Forces for timely and appropriate intervention in the current crisis of Somalia.

In a letter to the editor of the Washington Post, a person named Esayas Mekonnen from Hyattsville, U.S.A., said, "As a sovereign nation, Ethiopia is within its rights to respond to a threat on its doorstep, and it has done so superbly and responsibly."

Esayas says Ethiopia's intervention demonstrates military might being put to use at the right time, in the right place, with the right number of troops and for the right cause.

"Maybe the world's sole superpower can draw a lesson from this Third World country, considering our failure to stop the warlords and thugs who robbed Somalia of its future in 1993," Esayas said.

Now that Ethiopia has taken care of the terrorist elements of the international extremists and Islamic Courts movement, the world, including Somalia, will be much better off, he said.

"Ethiopia has given the Somalis a historic opportunity to create a broad-based government that represents all the people and thereby bring their nation back into the international community," Esayas said. "They cannot afford to squander this opportunity. It is time for national unity to trump their tribal and clan identities," he added.

Remember, hosni mubarak has once survived from assasination attempt by the al itahad al islamiya while he was touring in ethiopia in the 90s...This guy has old grudges against al itihad for trying for his life, and now that they are decemated he will have no part in it.

Lesson learn: Never create too many enemies, cause you never know if you'll always have the upper hand...

You got a be handy with the steal if you know what mean...Earn your keys.
