He destroyed the country almost single handedly. In the pursuit of power, he divided the country along clan fault lines. The economy was in tatters for the later half of his reign... the whole 80s Somalia was nation living on handouts fron international donors.

The only true, legit "father of the nation" Somalia ever had was Addan Cadde.
