Chicago Supports Awdal Convention in North America

Thanks to the Awdal Community in Minnesota for their great efforts to bring the Awdal Diaspora together. The Awdal Convention 2007 is a great opportunity for all of us. It is great news to hear. For that reason, Chicago Awdal community is very happy to participate in this convention. In addition, the whole community is committed to make this convention to success. Again, it is a great opportunity for us to come together and discuss what we can do for our people.

Our people are suffering from malnutrition due to food shortage, drought, poor agriculture performance, and the live stock ban. Our pregnant mothers die of anemia. The doctors indicate that anemia always occurs when a patient or a pregnant woman has no enough iron in his/her blood. In this age of technology and health science, most of our mothers lost their fetus during the early period of their pregnancy. To elevate the iron levels in their blood, our beloved mothers and sisters chew the stones and the charcoals. There are risks associated with taking them. Thus, if we put our effort together, we can establish small clinics and health centers in our rural areas and every pregnant woman will at least receive Iron supplements.

On the other hand, a high percentage of age school children in back home have no schools and teachers. If we put our effort together, every child will learn and will have brilliant future.

Our roads are rocky, and when cities have no paved and smoothed roads, which can make easy to travel, they remain geographically isolated from each other and from the rest of the world. If we put our efforts together, we can build better roads, Airports, and Ports.

In short, the upcoming Awdal Convention will give us a golden opportunity

to sit together and discuss our community's health, education and other important issues. We, the Awdalians in Diaspora, are very strong people and we can build stronger community.
