Freedom of Press in Danger, Aljazeera Banned in Somalia

Somali Transitional Government on Thursday ordered the Qatar-Based Al-Jazeera Satellite Television network and two other local radio stations whom all three broadcasted the dead corpses of government and Ethiopian troops burned and dragged on the streets of Mogadishu to shutdown or be forced

“They have been ordered to cease operation because they violate ethics of media” said one government official failing to highlight specific Incidents in which the Organisations violated media ethics

This Surge comes as Government troops backed by Ethiopian and the AU peacekeeping force are met with daily Insurgents attacks on there bases and fail to take control of southern parts of Mogadishu were they were met with heavy resistance that’s today going into its 3rd day of an all out war

The president of the transitional Governments Abdulahi Yussef has allowed the following media to continue streaming, they are as follows

Puntland post
Garowe Radio station
Bari news network
Bosaaso News

It has ordered that other independent news station, must follow these guidelines

1) Blame Attacks on Government troops on remnant of Islamic courts

2) Stop Anti government news reporting or anything that hinders the government process or those of the public mind

3) Acknowledge that Alqaida operatives are present in Somalia and that there regrouping in Mogadishu to undermine the government progress and receive funding by Somalis living in the Diaspora and Global Jihadi networks

Abdulahi Yussef's relatives aka Puntland are the only once allowed to report news on Somalia, the rest were banned toghether with Aljazeera for reporting yesterday's fierce blows to government forces and there Ethiopian allies.

They showed the prisoners the hawiye insurgents hold in the capital an estimated 30.
