Dying Somali Traditions Particularly Women's

Post by Demure »

Are there any traditions that you think are on their way to extinction and will weed out with our generation or the next?

-I think ululating at weddings and other festive occasions. I just realized none of my Somali girlfriends and acquaintaces do that ever.
-Reciting Buranbur? Again none of us are so great in Somali language
-Putting Henna on hands and feet - It's not so popular with the group of people I know.

It's funny but I can easily see any one of these three going out of tradition before FGM.
