You probably heard the story about Beydan. After a Midgaan to the Dhulbahante heard that the Habar Yoonis abducted a girl from the Ciidagale to offer her to a Midgaan serving the Habar Yoonis, this Midgaan went to his Dhulbahante patrons and asked if the Dhulbahante could do something like this for him. The Dhulbahante held a shir on it and decided to give this Midgaan a break and abduct a girl from the Majeerteen to wed her off to this dude.

The Dhulbahante tribesmen went into Carro Majeerteen, raided our ass and abducted Beydan Faarax Shirwac. The Majeerteen didn't know of the evil plans of their Dhulbahante brothers untill they found out that their sister was to be wedded off to a Midgaan in Dhulbahante country. This meant WAR!

They invaded Carro Dhulbahante only to be defeated, but Beydan wasn't wedded off to the Midgaan, she was wedded to a Dhulbahante instead.

It's interesting to know that Reer Faarax Shirwac, the backbone of Cumar Maxamuud are Dhulbahante from their mother's side. All of them except for Reer Mahad and some small reers, their Reer Abti is Dir.

If you're referring to the Majeerteen tradition of highly valueing Dir ladies. It's an old but abandonded notion that Dir ladies produce a lot of strong sons for a Majeerteen man. Today in 2007, we know better, our own Majeerteen ladies are just as good as the Dir ladies on that department of producing high quantity and quality of Majeerteen men.

Because they have and always had a large amount of goats. Go to Garowe, and you'll think it's a city populated by goats first, people second. Some of those goats even drive cars and are well respected in Garowe.
