Why have we never seen fundraising for the refugees in Kenya and Ethiopia. Sorry to be harsh but People politcise things. It is like paying zakat by counting the money and in front of a crowd.

Gedo,
$50,000 only. Folks are sure stingy.
Btw, who is gonna be responsible for sending that money over ? How do u prevent it from being mismanaged ?
Ducaale,
Those folks get aid from the UNCHR, the international community and even the ethiopian and Kenyan governments.
The people of Mogadishu are denied aid by their so called Somali government.

Aw252,
The ppl there were very generous......the question was how many ppl didn't show up for whatever reason.
Ducaale,
Many NGOs operate in Ethiopia/Kenya regions and with much less chaos & violence. And I donate to those organizations as well. In fact, they receive FAR more publicity than internal Somali conflicts due to the exposure and ability for NGOs to work in that region.
Why do you think when there are conflicts in Somalia Somalis flee to the camps in Kenya/Ethiopia. It is b/c the situation in those camps is much better than Somalia proper.

My aunt is very trustworthy and she is the one who is handling the $$$ and it is being sent to Somali Relief Fund (http://www.somrf.org) a reputable NGO who is on the ground right now and has been operating in Somalia since the early '80s in Xamar, Galbeed, Galgaduud etc.

I far as I know Washington DC area Fundraisers are that of K Street...
But I doubt, and I know, that Somalis can't raise any amount of money at DC area....maybe that of few shillings!
