KUN-DILE,

First of all, we're not talking about an intercontinental airport. We're probably talking about a landing airstrip with nominal amenities.

In developed countries, it is not commercially feasible for private airlines to build airports. This falls under state or federal governmental infrastructure expenditures and the burden falls on the taxpayer.

In the case of Daaolo, they would like to accomodate more paying customers and it makes sense for them to build an airstrip. This is not a community service.

The locals lodge the application for donations first sxb. Just like those from Buuhoodle who wish their little village be connected to the rest of the world. Laughing Laughing

You should know the nature of the Somali clan fights. It starts out small and quickly snowballs into a major one. This was no different fool.

The first incident occured back in 2006 and it was about a Berkad but that was settled. And then resource sharing and other disputes came about. A prominent man from one of the sides died in a scuffle. The otherside revenged for 3 business men who were doing business in the area. And then it snowballed into subclan fights over power and ownership of the whole district.

The Qaad Junction is very profitable to the extent that Ethiopia has built a customs office there. It earns more than 40 million dollars for the Somali region.

Kun Jaqe,

Daallo did not build any airports you fool. They gave the Gaalkacyo airport, a mobile stairway with their name on it. That's about it. The airport at itself is the same as in the 80s as a Somali air force base, only a bit more damaged because of lack of proper maintenance. The former air force base was solely meant to host Somali MIGs to defend the country from the Ethiopian enemy.

Even with this marketing strategy of Daallo, this airline's business is not doing very well in Gaalkacyo nor in Puntland as a whole. I travelled to Puntland myself a few years ago, the people there actively seek to board one of the Puntland owned airlines rather than an iidoor one. The only Somaliland owned airline doing well in Puntland is Djibouti Airlines and that's only because there are MJ shareholders in it pushing DJ Air into the PL market.

The only thing I'm not too happy about is that Ethiopian Airlines allready made a contract with Puntland to occupy a first class position in the new Boosaaso International Airport which is halfway under construction.

Spragga--> "The people there actively seek to board one of the Puntland owned airlines rather than an iidoor one.......The only thing I'm not too happy about is that Ethiopian Airlines allready made a contract with Puntland to occupy a first class position in the new Boosaaso "

So basically Puntlanders would rather fly Ethiopian airlines than any other company somali owned?
Bringing these people back to somaalinimo will sure take long . Dahabshiil's idea is exactly what we need, dhiiga in laga wada badalo ayay uu baahan yihin . Laughing
