Padishah, a geek is cooler than a nerd. Nerds are gross, whereas geeks have their charms, not to mention a propensity to come up with neat gadgets. Properly harnessed, a geek can make you a fair bit of money if you make sure to feed him regularly and drag him out for walksies every now and then.
As for my outlook, I think Voltaire summed it up nicely in Candide: "It is necessary to cultivate our garden". I don't believe in violent revolutions or utopias, rather that the world can be improved but people are stubborn and many are just plain stupid. Make changes with an eye towards giving future generations better opportunities than we had.
Or as a Greek saying goes, "a society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit."

Peek closely at the values conveyed in the article, it is pure ethnocentric.

The Australian conception of a nerd is completely different from your obstensibly classless America.
I still prefer nerd over geek. I will NOT be the pet of some idiot who cares only for skirts, cars and his millions.

dont let all the Al Qaeda talk dishearten you sxb. just because there are lots of focked up muslim doesnt mean the whole ummah is focked up. if muslims dont take the helm and rectify the errors of their fellow muslim brothers/sister we will have the kafir apointing one on our behalf with a diluted version of islam.
if i didnt know better i would have though Mad Mac's phobia of pilitical Islam got you too:lol:
poliyical Islam is here and its gathering momentum; ready or not its coming.[/quote]
biko,
What I meant about political Islam is that if the majority of the Ummah is suffering from lack of faith, weak iman and ignorance then it doesn't matter about political Islam b/c Allah won't let it prevail. Look at the Muslim world and how divided they are and how much they hate each other, do you think ppl will look to that as a model for the world to follow?
The current global system has many problems but you can't replace it with chaos and no alternative if we are not practicing our own religion like it should. Is there a place for political Islam when there is no personal or societal Islam?
