my dad told me long time ago, it is MUCH easier to estimate populations for the south because they are settled, sedentary ppl while the more north you go the more nomadic and moving around ppl are.

even in estimates you can't estimate correctly because if you are at on point in the south, it will stay that way population wise while in the northernor areas it is like trying to count a fly hub, ppl keep moving
