Who remembers Taleex ?

Post by Grant »

I am having trouble reconciling the pictures that are available of the fort at Talleex with what I saw in 1966. There was another, larger, picture, with more detail that I saw a couple of weeks ago but am now unable to locate. In it I could find the part of the fort I remember, but there were major additions behind and to the right side, and the tombs and granaries that should have been visible in the shot were gone.

Does anyone know where I can locate more pictures, or know what happened ?

Here is my description of the trip from a post I made soon after joining Snet.

I have thought long and hard about this, and my best recollection is that there were three tombs and three granaries. The tombs were untouched and quite decorative. One granary was largely destroyed, one was damaged and one was intact. What happened to them?

TTT

I hope no one minds if I give this as broad an exposure as possible.

Is that stuff historical revision or "restoration" of parts of the fort I didn't see, or just a bad angle on the photos ?

The part of the fort I saw was just that immediately behind the gate in the linked photo. The picture of the eroded wall of the fort is the left side of this section and has deteriorated since I saw it. The tombs and granaries face each other and should be visible just to the right of the gate.
