Dont twist my words dude. I said that the Q'uraan states that the hair be covered, and as such, nowhere does it say that the Arab style jilbaab/hijaab/niqaab is mandatory. I also said that Somali women need not wear the Arab style garb to be Islamic. A simple hair covering will suffice.

An arab dress is not compulsory nor any specific dress used by some other culture. Women can dress how they like, but their dress must fulfill the conditions laid by Islam. Here are the conditions (if something is missing from my list could someone please post them):

Islamic conditions of woman's dress:

1. It should cover everything except what is allowed to show.

2. It shouldn't be special looking, so everyone would stare at you and you would draw the attention, when xijaab is supposed to do the opposite.

3. It should be loose, it can't describe or show the shape of the body.

4. You can't put perfume on it. It's not allowed for women to put perfume when they walk outside because that draws attention.

5. It should be thick material, not a dress that's transparent.

6. It shouldn't be like clothing that men use.

7. It shouldn't be a cloth that is specific to kaafir women.

This is why Saudi women are only allowed to wear Black Abaya's. Someone tried to market colorful Abaya's and the Mutawa attacked that as un-Islamic. It's focking ridiculous. But then again, Islam is focking ridiculous.

For example nuns use specific kind of clothing that fill other conditions, they are loose and you don't see anything from their bodies, but it's absolutely forbidden for muslim to use it because it is something specific for kuffar. Understand what I mean? Same thing with every kind of clothing specifically used by any group of kuffar, religious groups or non-religious groups.
