In the season of 1846 this holy relic was brought to Berbera in charge of the Haber Gerhajis, and on it the rival tribes of Aial Ahmed and Aial Yunus swore to bury all animosity, and live as brethren in future—with how much sincerity, the events of the two succeeding seasons amply show, some scores of lives having been lost on both sides. ===================================================

Look at this idiot. Gabay is not objective history and not a source for factual information. There are many themes of Gabay such as Barooradiiq, Guubaabo, Guhaadin, etc. Gabay does not exist because it is a window of Somali history but an expression of our feelings at whatever time. A man who just lost a war can make a gabay conseling himself saying he won the war and such and another might down-play his victory for guubaabo purposes in order to make sure his clansmen keep up their guard. Both of those gabays can be translated differently in the future from the actual experience it was borne from.
i thought shiekh yusuf kownien was from the 12th century, this means that he is not Issaq and not darood.
he is most likley somali.
we should not ascribe everything to mythical arabs that come and play decisive roles in somali affairs, when the story of shiekh yusuf kownien was bieng played out, islam has been in the region for more than 500 years.

Its obvious who Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle was, from all sources , be it western , be it oral somali history and even from the fact of the location of his shrine and their builders, all point to a single fact ,that he was no Arab but a Somali Isaaq.

You are conteradicting yourself, at your post you began with the fact he was an Arab and then you claimed he was a Somali??
Yuusuf Al Kawnayn was a poineer sufist and a Somali , not an Arab.
