'Kill me or I'll rape you', girl told

A TASMANIAN man who threatened to rape his stepdaughter if she didn't kill him was jailed for at least eight months today.

The man pleaded guilty in Hobart Magistrates Court yesterday to three counts of assault and two of indecent assault.

The court was told the 32-year-old Kingston man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attacked his 13-year-oldd stepdaughter after drinking all day.

He hauled her from bed and pushed her into a chair, saying she had a choice of performing one of two sex acts with him.

"Either I rape you or you kill me, " he said.

He then slashed his wrists in front of her.

The man then assaulted his 15-year-old stepson and flung his wife onto the concrete steps outside the family's home.

Magistrate Peter Dixon today described the man's behaviour as violent, aggressive, terrifying and humiliating.

"These offences are deplorable,'' he said.

He sentenced the man to 14 months in jail, with a non-parole period of eight months.
