Ramzi Yusef (1993 WTC Bomber) Converts to Christianity

Did Ramzi Yousef Really Convert to Christianity?
By Catholic Online
10/12/2007

Catholic Online (www.catholic.org)
LOS ANGELES (Catholic Online) - The militant Muslim credited with the brutal attack on the World Trade Center makes an astonishing claim in an interview on the popular CBS program 60 MINUTES.

AKA Abdul Basit Mahmud Abdul Karim
Born: 27-Apr - 1968
Birthplace: Kuwait
Gender: Male
Religion: Muslim
Race or Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Terrorist
Nationality: Pakistan
Executive summary: Mastermind of 1993 WTC bombing

He claims that he has become a Christian.

The Report, a part of a larger interview by Scott Pelley, is set to air Sunday, October 14, 2007. (7:30-9:00 PM, ET/7:00-9:00 PM, PT) on the C.B.S. Television network. Of course, if the claim contained within the report proves to be true, Yousef Ramsi will take his place in the many accounts recorded throughout Christian History of men and women who, after having engaged in evil deeds, later repented of those actions after coming to believe the Christian message of forgiveness and redemption in Jesus Christ, the Messiah. One has only to look to the conversion of Saul who later became the Apostle Paul. A virulent persecutor of the early Christian Church, he stood by, complicit, at the first recorded martyrdom in Christian history, the stoning to death of the early Christian Deacon Stephen reported in the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament.

Yousef is being held inside the secretive “Supermax” prison in Florence Colorado. A former warden of that prison, Robert Hood, is suspect of the veracity of the claimed religious conversion. He tells Pelley in the upcoming report that Yousef never left his cell and prayed every hour. Hood notes: "He has that Charlie Manson look…He has some charisma about him. He's in [prison] uniform, but you know that there's a powerful person you're looking at…" Later in the report when the former warden is told by Pelley that Yousef has begun to leave his cell regularly and claims to have become a Christian, Hood says, "He's playing a game with someone. If he's doing that, he's doing it for the reaction....He is the real deal,"

The World Wide Web and the blogo-sphere is abuzz with mixed reactions and heated discussions of the purported conversion. Many secondary reports and commentaries express the doubtful tone evident in the former warden’s comments. However, if the claim of conversion is a ruse, why would Ramzi Yousef even make such a claim given the potential ramifications? Many of the other inmates housed at that facility share the brand of Islamic extremism for which he is known. They have shown their willingness to kill in its name. Conversion to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith would put Ramzi Yousef in danger of death in this facility, at the hands of former colleagues and collaborators. This is the same prison which houses Zacarias Moussaoui and convicted shoe bomber Richard Reid.

If true, the conversion of Ramzi Yousef to the Christian faith will shake both the Christian and Islamic world. The Arabic internet site Aljazeera.net published an interview with Ahmad Al Qataani wherein the Islamic cleric claimed that “In every hour, 667 Muslims convert to Christianity. Everyday, 16,000 Muslims convert to Christianity. Ever year, 6 million Muslims convert to Christianity." Catholic Online News will continue to follow this breaking story.

I've read this last week and the joke going around or should I say the dark humor is that, now that he is a Christian, he is anxious to get out of jail so he can bomb an abortion clinic.

Greatest PR stunt in the history of politics.

The story is true, the only thing is -- Ramzi Yusef and his deeds are not. His whole legacy, like blowing shit up and being a \"terror expert\" that shit sounds science fictional becasue it is.

But, big ups to the Catholic church; creating a figure of terror just to boost membership, kudos.
