Black cats, Satanic wannabes, and Halloween !!!!!!!!

Awhile back, I put up an essay called “Titania: Her Life, Death, and Legacy.” It was something of an as-told-to story as it was about a friend of mine who is Wiccan and believed that a Christian family killed his cat. Some accused me of showing an anti-Christian bias in running this story and pointed out that Christians are not a major threat to black cats.

Indeed, they are not. The major threat is the one I discussed in my blog “Black Cats and Halloween: The Clear and Present Danger.” That danger, especially pronounced during October, is from disturbed people who fancy themselves Satanists or devil worshippers. They sometimes “celebrate” Halloween by “sacrificing” a black cat or, less commonly, a black dog or other animal. Thus, it is a good idea for people who have black animals, particularly cats, to keep a close eye on them at this time of the year.

As I also noted in that blog, we should be wary of the practice of giving black cats to people around this time of the year. It seems like a cute gesture but is often misguided unless someone is absolutely sure that the recipient WANTS a cat and is willing to make the investment in time and resources to properly care for it.

Here’s to a Happy Halloween – and safety for everyone including the four-footed friends who share our world!
