My old man is in Real State business since 1991, he has buildings in all the main cities in Somalia and I want to join him in that soon insha’allah. As for hooyo macaan, well she teaches French and been doing so for almost 20 years. She loves working walahi, in spite of all the attempts to get her to give up, she doesn’t listen to nobody.

Mansh alaah , obviously this is not a representative sample of most Somalis because most Somali parents found themselves unemployed when they came to the west. I can be honest here and say that is what happened to both my parents. My father fared better because he was able to convert his qualifications to the UK equivelency and gain employment, but my mother who was a teacher did not have time to study as she was raising us.

My dear mom she doesn't work but she employs others to work for her.

My Dad works not because he has to but because it is better than sitting down at home and doing nothing. He makes good money in Hargeisa.
