Somali and Oromo and Afar were once different tribes of the same people. They went their separate ways because of religion. The Oromo began worshipping Waaq as the one god (though most are Muslim today, and a few are Christian) the Somali became Muslims, and the Afar stayed with the ancient Cushite gods, and at a much later date became Muslims.

The Ajuran drove the "Gallas" out of today's Somalia, NFD and Somali Galbeed, but noone knows if these were Oromos, Afars or Somalis, just that they weren't Muslims or Christian or Jews. ("Galla" being the catchall term for peoples not "of the book")

Are Galla related/another name for Boorana/Oromo? In the south/Jubba region, I came across places, uninhabited and used as grazing land by somalis whose names are still in Oromo/Borana as I was told. Stepping out of Afmadwo few kiometers one strats hearing names of places all in the language of the Original inhabitants. Tarri,Arboqaraso,Hayuu Jeeraa and ETC. Weird names Laughing

The Oromo all used to be called "Gallas", but today it's considered a pejorative term, and Oromo is the preferred term.

It's roughly the Habesha equivalent to "Kuffar". Early Somali states like Mora and Ajuran were influenced heavily by Muslim Habesha states like Adal and Ifat, so that's probably where the term came from.

Bay, Bakool, Gedo, Somali Galbeed and the Jubbas were all "Galla" territories until the arrival of the Ajuran in the 1500s, except the coast of Lower Jubba, which was Swahili Muslim territory. Their descendants the Bajuni still live there to this day.

James Dahl, Now I question your claim of being a white canadian Laughing Laughing No disprespect but you have to have solid connection to us somalis to care knowing much about our history.

I have my somali-conspiracy-theory-shaded-glasses on now and think you are pulling our legs.

Oromos have always lived in Somalia and those tend to speak Somali very well.

The proper term for Oromos is Somali Abow.

In NFD, the Borana, a subclan of the Oromo live next to the Somali tribes of the Degodia, Ajuran and Murule.

Af-Oromifa is similar to Somali among those Oromo who live in NFD and OGadenia. I can understand about 50% of what is being said in Oromifa and in certain areas were the Somali-Oromo settlement is close such as ISIOLO in Kenya you can hardly differentiate the two by looks and their language.

Southern Somalia was dominated by the Oromos until they were pushed out by the invading Somalis who if left unchecked by colonization by the Brits, would have expanded beyond the River Tana near Garissa into Southern Kenya and Tanzania.

Lets face the facts, we somalis became musilms because of the habesh musilms that came and settled in our lands that had been pushed out by the habesh christians.

All the Cuhstics races are weak i.e the Oromo, somali, afar, beja

We are always lead by others

Imagine if the Oromo's, somali's and afars could build a cuhsitic empire stretching from sudan to Northern Kenya, which could include all the chustic peoples.
