NGOs in Gedo region
"NCA has operated in the Gedo region since 1993. NCA has been the only international NGO (non-governmental organization) that has established an office in the region which lacks any form of civil governance."

Re: NGOs in Gedo region
While this may sound like it is an awful thing, I think it is actually good for the people of Gedo. It is better for them not to get used to receiving hand outs like other somali regions and instead learn to work and earn their living. I assure you when some sort of a development actually happens in the region, it will be of the making of the residents and not some foreign organization or group that will lead them and then just bail out on them at any minute.

Qansa,
You know I had a development idea that I wanted to pursue but never got the time. I think it would have been great but it has been put on the mental backshelf for now.
But in general, if the diaspora just got together and invested in providing infrastructure for basic needs it would go a long way since everybody sends money back home anyways, might as well let the income circulate in the Gedo economy.

nah sxb, NGOs are actually good thing to lay the foundation , you can worry about being independant from them after you milked them out. Most somali regions, especially northern regions rely heavily on them otherwise development would go very slow.
