1.First how big is the somali population, is it around 10 million and does it include somalis aborad
-somalis in somalia are about 10-12 million, worldwide we are about 15-20 million.
2. how many tribes or clans is there in somalia and is it the equalivent of ethnic groups
-4.5 formula, there are 4 majors clans (each splitting into sub-clans) and the .5 minority.
3. when somalis make fun of each other they sometimes say 'Burowani' does the word mean someone who lived in kenya or yemen.
-barawanis are mixtured of arabs, local somalis, kenyans and europeans, they are not look downed at but, so I dont know why some people are using it as an insult.
5 (should be 4) but landers mean somaliland, it's in north somalia and they are trying to be their own country like somalis in djibouti. Mugdisho is the capitol and not all somalis who inhabit the south dwell in mugdisho.

1. wow is it that much worldwide
-Yh somalis are quite deep, we have a big population in ogaden region of ethiopia, north kenya, and immigrants to europe, arab countries and north america.
2. so in mogadishu there is likely to be about 3-4 clans or tribes
-Muqdisho is the capitol and it belongs to no clan but the federal government, although some clans have their roots in the city, techinically they cannot claim it as their own.
3. i have noticed that there is very light skined somalis who are a bit yemen, would they be considered barawani
-The basis of skin complexion arent just limited to one group, every clan in somalia go from very light to jet black, but overall there are groups who have roots in arabia, the light skin people you reffering to are not just barawanis, there's reer-xamar, cad-cads, shaanshi, gibil-cads etc all hailing from, india, arabia, and some other parts of europe.
4. if you dont mind are you from the south or the north(somaliland)
I was born in the north(somaliland) but my people settle in south and central somalia and my ancestors originated from the north, so it's like a triangle, loool.
