are student jobs detrimental to future career success??

Advantages

student jobs: are flexible, less strict on rules, pretty much little or no work, students can get their school work done

Disadvantages

personally, i believe students are being deprived of essential hands on work experience necessary to succeed in this competitive fast paced job market.

what about internships u might say?? but a lot of internships are just as bad as students jobs.
what about students being able to do their homework??
*how many students actually do their work??

if u had a student job durin college do u think it was helpful or harmful to ur career now??

Suga I think students need more work experience in the career path their seeking. Interships are limited and no different from volunteering. Once a student graduates from a college/uni their left inexperienced because the limited slots for internship and move on to work their way up in career related fields they never intended on working in.


Spring/summer employment is ok if your seeking supplemental income and to pay off school fees but working part/fulltime and juggling fulltime at school would be difficult and might have a negative effect on your course work.

Double edgy sword, students are left with no experience when they graduate and the others who juggle a job might not have the right experience when they graduate.

Besides the extra money work experience can put both applicants who have graduated with work experience and one without in the same boat.
