A group of Majerten Somalis who hijacked a Russian-registered ship on Feb. 5 have released the ship after receiving a US$700,000 ransom payment, sources said.

The pirates held the Svitzer Korsakov vessel near the small coastal village of Eyl, in the region of Puntland, with U.S. Navy warships standing guard.

If any Somali catches a foreign vessel within they're reach they should either detain and keep the vessel or blow the ship and execute the crew. 700,000 isnt worth the billions and dumping of toxic waste on our shores every year.

Are you serious? 700,000 is huge some especially for small city like Eyl. Its equivalent of 5 million Dollars. Now, they will use that money to buy modern vessels and hack more western motherfckers. Remind what are they doing in Puntland waters. I like the fact that the US navy were just watching

The War on Terror is working in our best interest since US is coast gaurding Somali, Yemen,Djibouti and Kenyan waters it would be more diffult for these vessels to conduct activities within our waters without going noticed.

700,000 is peanuts in comparison to how many catches they've made within the area for several moths/yrs. Its better then nothing I'd rather have the crew executed and the trawler.
