Child Molestation - Why is this considered social taboo?

Post by AsliUK »

I have a question, somalida maxaysan kaga hadlin Rape and Molestation?
Waxa ka sii daran, markii gabadh tiraah such and such did this to me, iyadaa la oranayaa nayaa "Sharmuuto" ba tahay, adiga raadsaday hebel iyo hebel, like that's her fault! if a grown man rapes a little girl, how is that her fault?

My story is, I was molested at age 9, ninka i molest gareeyey waa nin qaraabo aan ahayn oo nala dagnaa. For two years wuu i molest garayneyey cidna uma aan sheegin. Why didn't I tell anyone? I don't know but I can tell you, though I don't want to get into the details, but strangly I remember the experience as somewhat peaceful, not painful and actualy pleasureable though it sounds absalutely aweful, I can't tell you why I felt the way I felt about him. But this doesn't make it right. What worries the most is, I know in ay jiraan gabdho yar yar oo la molest gareeyo everyday aana haysan cid ay u sheegtaan.

Maxaa inoo diiday in aan ka hadalno arrintan in public? Maxaa inoo diiday in aan samayno "Sexual Abuse And Child Molestation Awarness Trainings" among somalis. Maxaa inoo diiday inaan caruurteena kala hadalno Sex? Maxaa inoo diiday inaan caruurteen open u noqono, aan ka hadalno important keys ku saabsan sex and std, and so forth?

I'm married now, I have a handsome, drop dead gorgeous husband who loves me and our children. We have two beautiful children. Caruurtayda iyo aniga aad baan close u nahay wax walbana waan kala hadlaa noloshooda ku saabsan.

Anyway, I eagerly await your queries and feedbacks!

Your parents failed to protect u from a sexual predator because child molestation is not as prevalent and widely discussed than it is in other non muslim societies. Older generation of somalis are naive in that respect, because they are more trusting..but there are somali perverts and peadophiles and they are more dangerous because of the trust somalis have in extended family and even strangers just because they are somali.

Protect your kids from what happened to you, and I agree it is something that should be discussed just so naive people out there can be aware..just because someone is a somali and muslim like you does not mean they cannot be a rapist, child molester or peodophile.

Thats so sad. You're right people need to get this out in the open, the victims need to know its not their fault and their nothing to be ashamed about.

There are Somali pedophiles, but when they're discovered, they're usually sent back to Somalia. Imagine what they're doing to the kids over there.

The sad part is most kids are molested by family members...

Your right, Somalis should talk more openly about such issues instead of covering it up..

And let the kids know they do have options and protection if they speak up.

Even if the person is a multinick, don't out them. This is obviously a sensitive issue.
