Some creation of Allah are blessed.
Women like sheep are blessed.
Statistics show that more somali boys are born than girls. Yet by mucjiso of Allah, if every somali man marries four wives, there will still be enough xalimos to go round.
If polygammy is abandoned as happening in the west, there will be lots of single sisters left hanging and frustrated Faraxs. This is a threat to our society.
Sisters in the west should swallow their pride and accept to be 2nd, 3rd or 4th wives.
You are not better than Aisha, Sawda bint Zamca, Hafsa Bint Cumar, Zeynab bint Khuzeymah, Salama Bint Umaya, etc.
I have seen a Nigerian muslim married to four wives. All his four Nigerian wives have masters degree.And they are happy that way rather than stay single or leave their community.

A dog has twelve puppies a year.Sheep have only two.
Yet how many millions of sheep are slaughtered every day. still there are far more sheep on earth than dogs. This is by the will of Allah.

Grant..dont you think the western governments are being hypocritical when they ban polygamy and allow men to have endless number of girlfriends all at the same time?? besides the latter is worse since the man is cheating ..the females dont know about each other and also he ends up abandoning them and any offsprings.

I have not noticed that legal follows directly upon logical, and I would not support marriages that did not have the blessing of a first or second wife. But you are preaching to the choir here.

I do not know that the western governments are being hypocritical in this instance. Western culture has polygamous predecedants, but none the less, a looong tradition of legal monogamy, based on the transferance of land or other property in the dowry. The crime of polygamy is "bigamy", having a second wife whose children may acquire a claim on the property. Gets sticky.

I think serial monogamy is different..I was talking about the existence of polygamous relationships in the sense that the man doesnt 'marry' all the woman..he may be married to one or none but yet he dates all these women all at the same time..Western governments in this case dont give a toss about all the 'other' women..but when the man marries them and gives them house and looks after them and the kids..its the jail!..dont u find that weird??

In the West; a man can be married and have an infinite number of girlfriends/mistresses, a man can be single and have an open relationship with a married woman, a man can be married and have infinite number of boyfriends, a man can be single and marry another man. However, if a man marries more than 1 woman, he's breaking the law and faces prosecution. What does that say about these countries we plan on raising our children in?

Polygamy should be understood as an exception to the rule rather than as the rule itself, regardless of whether this be at the societal level, or individual level. At the societal level, polygamy is permitted when the ratio of men to women is affected by such exceptional circumstances, including infertility. Muslims should be discouraged from this practice here in the United States not only for such ethical reasons, but also because it is illegal in all fifty states.

Muslim women should not allow themselves to fall prey to unscrupulous men who, in the name of Islam, seek only to give free rein to their sexual desires. Such men claim to be following the Shari`ah for as long as it suits them. If they find that American laws better serve their interest, they will be the first to turn their backs on the Shari`ah. The purpose of marriage must always be kept in mind: that it is a means to provide a loving home in which children may grow up as true Muslims. The sort of duplicity and self-serving attitudes that all too often accompany polygamy are anything but conducive to the creation of such a family atmosphere
