Somali Nikaax: Questions

Post by AbdiWahab252 »

So folks whats the best way to present a good image to your future father in law besides driving with him to the Masjid and praying every time you are at the house ? During the nikaax how much yaraad are you supposed to give out ? Who qualifies as a witness ? Any guidance on who to bring ?

Much appreciated.

Let ur fam handle all the talkin and stuff. U just chill, shake hands, say hi.

Take father (if he's still alive),brothers, first cousins,

The groom isn't supposed to do anything except come and come up with the money, the rest is handled by the family

AW,

1-So folks whats the best way to present a good image to your future father in law besides driving with him to the Masjid and praying every time you are at the house?

-Why do you need to put on a show for the old man? You're already marrying his daughter, be yourself. People can tell a faker from a mile away, just remember to be respectful, kind and well-mannered.

2-During the nikaax how much yaraad are you supposed to give out?

-It depends on how much you can afford and how much you & the bride have agreed on. No need to break your back if you can't afford it. Also, a dowry can never come from any other source besides the groom's halal earned income, that means no "Qaaraan" or borrowing from family & friends.

3-Who qualifies as a witness? Any guidance on who to bring?

-Any male of sound mind & age who prays and follows the religion. Start your marriage on the right footing and it will last. The male witnesses can be your relatives or friends, age is not an issue as long as he is an adult.
