FAH1223,

Swahili is an easy language to learn. Its phonetic and within 2 months u can pick it up.

Gedogurl,

Where in TZ did u visit ? I used to live in Dar and have been to Dodoma, Tanga, Arusha, Singida, Moshi, and taken the Tazara rail to Lusaka.

During one stay back in the 1980s, I met his excellency the late great African, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere  The President of the country was strolling down town with his people without a worry.

FAH...he is the most important African leader. You can learn Swahili pretty quickly though, the first time youll just have trouble with cabbies and getting places.

A/W..Nilikwenda Dar es Salaam, Arusha na Unguja. Baada ya muda mpfupi nitasafiri kwa unguja tena kusoma Kiswahili. Utaenda Tanzania karibu?

FAH1223,

Mwalimu (teacher) Julius Nyerere was a great African nationalist who abhorred Colonialism and was promoting self sufficiency through African Socialism known as "Ujama" One of his great legacies is that he made created a national identity and language for Tanzania a nation of over 100 tribes. He fought tribalism through out his rule and ensured that Swahili became the prominent language of the nation above English.

My uncle who was a pilot for Somali Airlines once met the President at Dar Es Salam International Airport. Nyerere was deeply impressed that all of the pilots for Somali Airlines were Somalis. At the time, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya all shared East African Airways and all of the pilots were nonnatives.

GedoGurl,

Mimi nina penda Tanzania. Watu wake ni watu wazuri sana. Kama una iisha hapo maka mingi uta kuwa kama watu wao. Msomali wame kuwa waziri wa Tanzania.
