Sheikh hyper, Al-Shabaab was known as the military wing of the ICU. After some ICU leaders went to Asmara, ICU got split into a political wing and military wing. It's worth to note, it was Al-Shabaab that was doing all the hard physical work, from (among a long list of) fighting and kicking out the secular CIA-supported warlords, establishing and maintaining peace and order, re-organizing as an efficient insurgency that's giving nightmare to the occupiers and collaborators, etc.
