Shirib then how could you have resisted us who made the Italians cry? We blazed into the place and were powerful before and the Italians. Anyways this is not up for discussion but I just saw the article you posted and it says you dominated the Ivory trade that ran from Luuq to Mogadishu but it says nothing about you dominating Luuq. As a matter of fact I HAVE read about you burning Baardheere but never saw you anywhere near Luuq.

Geledi didn't live in all those places. They lived the same place they live today Afgooye, Xamar and surroundings. All of the clans just payed tribute to Geledi, and Geledi controlled all the trade routes from the interior to the coast.

Oh, Geledi probably learned of Mareehaan in 1969, we don't live by ya'll remember.

As for Rahanweyn most of their history that I know about is through Geledi history. I really don't know much about there own particular history.

Shirib everything I tell you is strictly from my academic sources and can be traced back to. Imagine if I had sat here all this time and talked about "my family's version" of history. How ridiculous would I have sounded. As I told you, I read in dept about history and the info I encountered about Geledi was the fact they along with the Abgaal imamate lived in Shingaani and were blocked out from the central Xamar by the Reer Xamar.

This is all close to a hundred or years or so prior to the Italians. 60-70 years before the Italians, all of the coast from Kilwe in mozambique to Xamar was controlled by the Omani Sultan of Zanzibar, and the Italians bought the land that is around Benadir from the Omani Sultan.

Not much there sxb and I speak from a measured, academic point of view...certainly nothing that matches direct march towards a large contigous area, overtake it, cause a colonial power (British) to even give up the land to another because they can't control, prosyltize people, and set up a tradition that makes you rule an area wider then any single sub-clan has ever ruled in history.

And this is all before we get to Imam Nuur, Ahmed Gurey, and the earlier history

The Omani Empire was a network of ports, held together more by shared commercial interests than by a state structure (Cooper 1977: 32) Guillan described Sa'id's authority over Banadir as 'seasonal'; it came and went with the monsoons when his ships were able to anchor (Guillan, 1856: III, 185). As far as Muqdisho was concerned, everybody knew the real power lay with Yusuf of the Geledi. Those merchants from Europe, Asia and America congregated in Zanzibar who directed their attention to the mysterious Sultan who controlled the inland trade routes.

The Sultan of Zanzibar was more ceremonial, Xamar was dominated by the Geledi Sultunate, both Abgaal and reer Xamar were submissive to him. I'm not makin up tales here sxb, southern Somalia before was dominated by the Geledi. These are from academic sources, its not just me makin up stories.

I don't know where this is going, but my intention was not a Geledi vs. Mareehaan comparrison.

As for Geledi controlling Xamar I just posted 2 pieces of scholarly work which said Xamar and southern Somalia was under Geledi control and pretty much independent of the Sultan of Zanzibar.

Sultan of Zanzibar more than anything was there for international trade of the products brought to the ports of Benadir mainly ivory. He did not control the cities. Goods were brought to the ports, Sultan of Zanzibar paid for them and took them to other parts of the world. He had little say of what happened in the country.

voltage,

yes, let the delusion flow through you. good, do not discriminate against knowledge deducted from delusion. your delusion has made you very knowledgeable. the force of delusion is very strong with you. therefore, in time, you shall become more deluded than murax, warsame boy and yes, even coolpoison himself. now fulfill your destiny and take the place of coolpoison as the most deluded marehan.

THanx for saying I am very knowledgeable. I disagree, of course, since knowledge is something we are forever looking for but I appreciate the compliment nevertheless.
