Only the traitors celebrated 1 July, forgetting that they are the puppets who contributed to this shamefull Ethiopian occupation, while celebrating the Independance day of Somalia.

How ignorant and inconsistent!

The country under Ethiopian military and political occupation.

Those who fought before should be used as another example for the ones today.

Its another colonial power and history shows that Somalis before us did collaborate with the colonials and there were those who resisted in the struggle for freedom for half a century.

FAH,

I don't see a reason why the war should be limited to Hawiyedom and when the Ethiopians are kicked out, other Somalis come to the powersharing table to share in the victory without putting any effort into the liberation.

A vaild argument there.

Though Mogadishu clans had many reasons not to celebarate there might be a different way of looking at this. As many people know I was strong supporter of this line and even went as far as advocating change in the compromised Somali flag. I stll think the old Somali flag is done.

Our day, not theirs

This is what we should do the next July. Celeberate and pay tribute to those who worked hard in building the first Somali state. We awe to Abdullahi Cise, Adan Cadde for such celeberation. We should remember their superior leadership in those critical years of the nation. We also remember the role of Genaral Duad and General Caydiid in creating the Somali Army which ultimalely defeated ethiopia in 1977.

Leaving traitors to claim the spoils of such a historical event is both emotional and politically not wise. The July event should considered a day of celeberation for all Somalis, a day of happines, a day to denounce traitor clans, A day to inject pride and nationalism to Somali youth.

The battle of Moscow did not prevent the citizens of Moscow from celeberating the anniversarry of their revolution. There were air raids, distant thunder of the battle of Moscow; there was also the celebration, the denouciation of the Facism.

First of July is for us not for them.

We celebrated in JULY 1 in Puntland and put the famous blue and white flag high. Moqdisho first need to kick out the Ethiopians before celebrating :somalia:

Many clans are fighting the occupation, it is Hawiye's misfortune that the capital is located in their territory. Had the capital been Hargeisa the story would be the exact opposite of today.

Digil-Mirifle and Sade have sent just as many men to war, but their lands are not symbolic as Mogadishu is. The TFG will not allow thousands to die to hang on to Kismayo or Baidoa or Dusamareb, but Mogadishu is different.
