Excellent observation man. Machiavelli's theories can be applied to any society that is why centuries after it was written, it still holds true. The comparison of France, he used is very interesting too. I think, viz a viz, the Ethiopian occupation the Somalis are mostly in the same bed as the French1nemansquad wrote:Machiavelli offers advice to the West on how to conquer a Muslim state.
"But if once the Turk has been vanquished and broken in battle so that he cannot raise new armies, there is nothing to worry about except the ruler's family. When that has been wiped out there is no one left to fear, because the others have no credit with the people"
remember what happend to Saddam Hussain in Iraq? Capture Saddam Hussein and kill his sons. Once they achieved that, what do they do next with Iraq?
"When states newly acquired as I said have been accustomed to living freely under their own laws, there are three ways to hold them securely: first, by devastating them; next, by going there and living there in person; thirdly, by letting them keep their own laws, exacting tribute, and setting up an oligarchy which will keep the state friendly to you"

1nemansquad, reading books is not my cup of tea and if I see a Somali person who is a book worm instead of a magazine reader then that person without a doubt wants to be a white person

1nemansquad, wouldn't you like to know about how Angelina grabbed a married man and so did Julia Roberts. Do people hate them now or are they still popular? Did they come out on top? How did they manage that? The Spears kid sister is pregnant. What do people think? Will it wreck her career? Will she come out on top, too? What's her secret? Plus there are great beauty tips

nad maids tale was a depressing dystopia, you know what i kinda enjoyed it.
i like dystopias, from the first time i read 1984, brave new world they are all rather light compared to what other stuff is out there.. for example the Draka series by S.M stiling, and Chung Kuo by David Wingrove.

Gurey,
I once read "Grapes of Wrath" which must have been over 600 pages. I was out of reading material and spending a summer in Tanzania. I used to walk down to the beach & read under the coconut tree as a cool breeze came off from the Indian ocean

Loool i am not a feminist
, but i loathe male chauvanistic pigs and my goal in life is to reform them
Handmaids tale was just depressing and utterly disturbing..... the movie was even worse, the directing and acting was very amateur!!! i wish my teacher had picked a better book to read instead.
