I beg to differ ...I was in my early teens(10-12 in mid 80s) when I saw them..not nec..their rise..
but if you had bigger siblings you would be subjected to whatever kind of music their were listening to..

I also heard G. Benson, The Beattles, Rod Stewart, Reo Speedwagon as well as Sting around those times.
Not to mention Um Kalthoum and Abdilahalem Hafiz.
