I'll believe it when they have autistic savants like Rainman .. then I will believe they have a higher rate of autism then the general population.

If it was true and a cluster of cases were found among somali immigrants then they would be all over them trying to find out what they are doing differently and closer to finding out what causes/triggers autism.

While its known that mercury has been linked to developmental delays and brain damages. I highly doubt it alone is the sole cause of Autism. This disorder can be a combination of Environmental and immunological factors. Whats strange is during the video they said that not one case was discovered from children born back home and that they are all cases of children born in the US. That alone speaks volumes that this maybe the work of environmental factors and stronge combination of various genes.

Somalis in the West consume much more sugar than those in back home
Somalis are Nomad people we cannot tolerate sugar we see an increase in the number of children with peanut allergy and diabeti. the link talks about sugar too.

Do not buy into the hype that sugar causes diabetes. It doesnot, besides Austism is diagnosed as early as the tender age of two or three I think. Anyways, its a naurological disorder that has lots of question marks to it. Hopefully they will find out what causes it and how to prevent it in the near future.
