THE OTHER SIDE OF BLACK HAWK DOWN

Post by Kamal35 »

It's 36 minutes long. From minute 12 is worthy to see it.

It's about the Somali side of Black Hawk Down. No music, no effects. Just facts.

Judge for yourselves.

Kamal, I think the history channel had an unbiased documantery about black hawk down, what really w3nt down from begining to end. It was actually refreshing to see something like that on a major channel.

I hope Mad Mac comes here and explain the whole thing... He was there that day, while we were not.

It's true that Somalis, by that time, were in the SNA militia, really high on qhat. But it's also true that the UN troops were not there to be peacemakers at all.

Things, at that time, were really... complicated...

Too much hate and too many military operations in both sides.

More than 1.100 Somalis, including women and children, were killed that day while 19 US soldiers were KIA (killed in action) and about 100 were wounded.

That's the sad thing about the movie "Black Hawk Down". Why Ridley Scott didn't portray the pain and suffering of the Somali people like he portraits the pain and death of American soldiers? That's disgusting.

It goes beyond me. Ok. It's a Hollywood movie for an American audience. But, as my Somali friend told me when we were watching at the movie, she said: "Well, all those Somalis killed don't have a family or what? Nobody mourning for them? Are they just African wild amgry people without family?"

By the movie, it seems that Somalis are just an angry mob. That's all. It seems that the best Somali guy is a Somali dead.

Disgusting in my opinion.

If you portrait Michael Durant, you should also portrait Firimbee and what he did for Durant in order to keep him alive.

Your country, Spain, would have done the same thing (kill +1,000 civilians) or worse.

Kamal,

It was a harrowing day.

During the 9 month operations, 13,000 Somalis were killed. The most horrific attack was the bombing of the Abdi House. Over 80 people were murdered in cold blood who were meeting there to discuss how to end the war. Some of those killed wanted to mediate a peace deal and force Caydiid into a compromise with the AMericans and UN. After that massacre, Caydiid became a legend and deeply popular that he could now command the loyalty of legions.

By the time October 3 rolled around 100% of the SNA were behind General Caydiid. if the Americans did not kill those peaceniks at the Abdi house, General Caydiid may have not had the strong support to get full cooperation of his SNA.

The producer of the tape did not include the section of the Rangers holding children in Quranic schools as hostages to get free access to leave the area they became trapped in.

Btw, Firimbi passed away last year.

By the way, I also discovered a curious thing:

While United Nation's vehicles had the word UN or UNO written on them, the SNA vehicles and technicals had the word DOS written on them. Was DOS meaning 'Defense of Somalia'?.

The curious thing in that, in Spanish, UNO is ONE, while DOS is TWO...

Could you tell more stories about those days? They will be welcome and appreciated here.

The problem I have with the American version of any battle they get themselves in is .
1/ They come in , expect it to be a walk in the park , then if confronted they not only overwhelmingly bomb the shit out of the place , but exagerate the streghth of the enemy and the kills they've made .
Always , always the same thing ..in Vietnam.. in Somalia..in Fallujah..in Afghanistan ... , there's always { as matter of fact if you go back as far as the wars they had with the native Indians  } the 20 or so white good guys attacked by hordes of savages .
Let me give you another example , the other day @ the Olympics both the men and women relay 4X100m team failed to qualify for the finals .
When asked what happened , Williams the anchor of the women's relay team said :" I think somebody out there has a voodoo doll on America, we're by far the best team , this is unbelievable" .

They just cannot believe they're human beings , after all , like the rest of the people out there
