Yeah I feel sorry to all Black kids who speak standard in high school. The thing is in high school none of the other blacks used to call me white but they used to call a friend of mine white. Maybe its because I was already foreign and they didn't really consider me their own to begin with.

It's the midwest so maaha, at least we were bred in one of the most educated, upscale and progressive areas in the country


Starscream, Americans are more conservative then people think, for example they are faaaaar faaar more conservative then Europeans, sure there is a lot of freedom here and you can do what you want as an individual but people are 10x more conservative then european....can you believe Bush was picked twice just because of abortion/homosexuality? Can that ever happen in Europe?

I think your english is normal..you don't have the accent that generally our somali people have even if they have lived here for quite sometime...and there grammar is off quite so...

True voltage, but we just got some differences in our sense of humor as well. in mainland europe and UK, we mock ourselves to get laughs for instance. Americans never mock themselves just in jest, it's just not a logic thing to do in your culture.

You are right. One of the things I noticed in Africa is if you make a blunder, people laugh at you AND you laugh at yourself. Americans never do that, first of all its impolite to laugh and laugh too much at another's misfortune and second you would say excuse me and things would move on. I couldn't get over how the Somalis were acting, wallahi I never knew how American I was till I went to Africa.
