My HP laptop (Got it '06) is does not pick up wireless networks anymore and has a red light (Where as it used to be a green detect light When it worked) I was told I might need a new wireless driver, but most likely might have to get a new laptop. Any suggestions?

He helped me out last week as well, now thanks to him all my COMPUTER problems are gone, I was this close getting a new laptop.

It wasnt top notch..but good quality and cost me some bucks..I tell you..
I had to pay almost 300 for the repair just couple of wks ago.

Cawar, you should have bought an extended warranty or something, what were you thinking, last year I bought a camera from future shop w/out a warranty and they milked me.

Thats exactly what happened to me..

And me being the most disorganized person on earth..didnt help.. I even lost the receipt.
Anyways, a lesson learned.

Got an Acer laptop bought in 2003 for $500 and is still going strong.

Got a new Linux OS based Desktop for $200 and no problems.

Murax,,,dude if ur wireless led is red then it could something as simple as ur wireless turned off. Did u make sure it isn't turned off, even in the bios?
If its a driver issue then ur problem isn't a problem at all cause u can find all the drivers in the HP support site http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

to check if ur missing drivers check ur device manager.
-right click on My Computer
-click on Manage
-click on Device Manager

If ur wireless card is missing drivers it would be listen under Other Devices or under Network Adopter (it will have a yellow explanation mark).

If the card is faulty for sure then AbuShabab's suggestions would be what u'll need to do bro. Instead of spending money on a new system, for $25 or even $40 purchase an external wireless card. The USB ones r very convenient but they stick out a bit too much, so I'd suggest u purchase the PC card instead.
